SANTA SEMELI & THE MONKS
After sixteen years of touring across multiple continents and over 1 million records sold, Turin Brakes have established themselves as one of the UK’s best-loved exports. They released their latest album, Invisible Storm in January 2018 on Cooking Vinyl Records. Their top 5 single, Painkiller (Summer Rain), is still a festival favourite and we are thrilled to welcome them back to the Groucho Club for a special intimate perform.
We’re delighted to announce that Goldheart Assembly will be reuniting for a one-off performance exclusive to the Groucho Club. After receiving huge amounts of support from Steve Lamacq, Jonathan Ross, Dermott O’Leary and Coldplay, the band went on to have 6 consecutive playlist singles on BBC 6Music, appeared to over 1 million viewers on Last Call with Carson Daly in the US, played at every major festival across Europe and managed to squeeze some support tours in with Band of Horses, The Magic Numbers and The Civil Wars in the process.
Tom Speight has had quite a year already. He has racked up millions of plays on Spotify, seen two of his singles make it onto the Radio 2 playlist, his trio of Eps have all charted in the iTunes top 10, and he’s written songs with everyone from Mumford and Sons to X Factor finalists. After a two-year break from music, for emergency surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease, he’s now back and poised to become one of the UK’s biggest singer-songwriters.
SANTA SEMELI AND THE MONKS
Formed in 2014, Santa Semeli and the Monks have been described as New Wave, Avant Garde, Punk Rock and classic songwriters. Semeli’s volcanic stage presence has been compared to the likes of Kate Bush, Liza Minnelli, Patti Smith, Rita Haywarth and Marlene Dietrich whilst her poetic versatility reminds a young Lou Reed.
